Smell The Sea.....

Hello crafty folks,
Today I have gone out of my comfort zone and tried something new for my DT inspirational post at Itsybitsy.
So, I tried my hand at a mixed media canvas. I used chalk paints to create the background. The more I work with chalk paints, the more I am loving it . It dries quickly and gives a matte finish. Itsybitsy has such beautiful color range too. ( I am going to hoard them for sure :D )
I am  so happy with the outcome. Let me take you through the steps on how I created it.

I assembled the materials required. Monte Marte 5" x 7" canvas and chalk paints and brushes.

For sky I used Tuscan Teal chalk paint and a bit of blue acrylic paint. For the beach area I mixed Lemon Chiffon with a little bit of Mocha Color splash. I added a it Marsh Green chalk paint here and there too.  I stuck gauze cloth to create texture for waves.

I added Snow chalk paint on the tip of ruffles of gauze cloth to give it a frothy texture. I added the fence sticker from the 3D sticker collection and gave it a color with a mixture of Snow Chalk paint and Mocha Color splash.

I used the Irregular Dot stencil and Frosty Fizz Embossing paste to create texture. I added mini art stones I had for more texture. Once it dried I colored the stones with the same colors I used for beach.

I colored a small chipboard bird with chalk paints and stuck it to the fence. I completed the canvas by adding some shells, moss etc. I painted few birds in the sky too.
Here are more pictures of my completed canvas:

Upcycled bottle

Hello ,

Over the weekend I just gave an old bottle, a makeover. I had this honey bottle which I thought could be changed to a home decor piece.

This project is my DT inspiration post for Itsybitsy

I first cleaned the bottle well and applied 'Lemon Chiffon' chalk paint. I gave  it two coats to get a good coverage. (when applying two coats, allow sufficient time for the first coat to dry before applying the next).

I cut the required portion of the design from the decoupage napkin - 'Forest Flowers'. I glued the napkin using Little Birdie Decoupage Glue.

I used a cling wrap to smoothen out the napkin and to remove wrinkles and trapped bubbles.

I added the napkin piece on all four sides and gave a top coat of Decoupage Glue over all of them.

I then colored the surrounding areas to blend with the napkin. I used Lemon Chiffon  and a touch of Wild Moss chalk paints to get the desired color. I also sprayed brown acrylic paint for an added interest. Finally I gave three coats of varnish allowing at least 1/2 -1 hour drying between each coat.  I added twine and embellishment from Little Birdie.

Here are few pictures of my project:
