Hello everyone, I am Gayatri from India. I am stay at home mom and I have two wonderful grown up boys. I started crafting when my boys grew up and I had leisure time to spend.
I love to craft and create with pattern papers. I try to make new projects and avoid repetition. Be it cards, I love trying fun folds or 3D cards. I spend time to finish my work so that it is perfect and brings joy and awe to the receiver or beholder.
I had not heard about Scrap Mir before, but when I saw their DT call in January, I checked their paper collection and to be frank, they are awesome. I love soft patterns, pastel shades, and vintage patterns. The paper pack is well thought of and the sentiments, cards, and chipboard pieces are so coordinated and amazing. I would love love to work with them and try to create new crafty projects. Hope I get a chance (please... :) )

Smell The Sea.....

Hello crafty folks,
Today I have gone out of my comfort zone and tried something new for my DT inspirational post at Itsybitsy.
So, I tried my hand at a mixed media canvas. I used chalk paints to create the background. The more I work with chalk paints, the more I am loving it . It dries quickly and gives a matte finish. Itsybitsy has such beautiful color range too. ( I am going to hoard them for sure :D )
I am  so happy with the outcome. Let me take you through the steps on how I created it.

I assembled the materials required. Monte Marte 5" x 7" canvas and chalk paints and brushes.

For sky I used Tuscan Teal chalk paint and a bit of blue acrylic paint. For the beach area I mixed Lemon Chiffon with a little bit of Mocha Color splash. I added a it Marsh Green chalk paint here and there too.  I stuck gauze cloth to create texture for waves.

I added Snow chalk paint on the tip of ruffles of gauze cloth to give it a frothy texture. I added the fence sticker from the 3D sticker collection and gave it a color with a mixture of Snow Chalk paint and Mocha Color splash.

I used the Irregular Dot stencil and Frosty Fizz Embossing paste to create texture. I added mini art stones I had for more texture. Once it dried I colored the stones with the same colors I used for beach.

I colored a small chipboard bird with chalk paints and stuck it to the fence. I completed the canvas by adding some shells, moss etc. I painted few birds in the sky too.
Here are more pictures of my completed canvas:
